Description
The Shops at Dakota Crossing are a retail destination along busy New York Avenue right at the DC/Maryland line. The sustainable master plan included construction of an extensive planted retaining wall to mitigate the 60-foot grade change, and a sizeable below grade rainwater collection system. Six of the 10 buildings on the site are LEED rated, four of them Silver.
With 430,000 sf. of retail space, it has drawn several national tenants into the District for the first time, resulting in thousands of customers drawn from the surrounding region daily. Trammell Crow has balanced the mix of tenants with locally owned businesses.
The main street development, with varied facades to create an urban setting, wide walkways and welcoming plazas, also attracts pedestrian traffic from the surrounding Fort Lincoln residential neighborhoods.
