Bigwaha Inspires the Next Generation of Designers

“As part of [Maryland Curiosity Lab’s] six-week architecture quest, our learners are designing their own ‘dream school.’ We also took the opportunity to connect this work to something that sits at the heart of our program: helping each learner discover their calling.

To make that real, we visited the architects at @bigwaha in Annapolis. They walked us through some of their projects and showed how an idea becomes a finished building. Just as importantly, they shared why they chose architecture—what pulled them into the field, what keeps them there, and the challenges they’ve had to push through along the way. Hearing honest stories like that helps our learners see how callings take shape in real life, not just on paper.

Learners then presented their own school designs and received thoughtful feedback they’ll use as they continue refining their work.

A sincere thank-you to the Bignell Watkins Hasser Architecture & Interiors team for opening their office and sharing both their craft and their journeys.”
