Description
West Broad Marketplace is a power center retail development located in the fast-growing Short Pump suburb of Richmond, anchored by Wegmans and Cabela’s. Bignell Watkins Hasser was responsible for the design of six buildings totaling approximately 180,000 square feet across two parcels. The development includes junior anchor retailers such as TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Duluth Trading Co., as well as a variety of retail shops, restaurants, and pad buildings. The project was completed in 2017.
The buildings were designed with a distinctive modern-rustic character, featuring tapered stone piers and open-frame metal structures at the mini-anchor sign marquees. We incorporated ribbed metal panels, greenscreen trellises, faux-wood fiber cement siding, brick corbelling, and decorative lighting to create an upscale shopping experience.
