Bayside is a large development by Carl M. Freeman Associates that is planned around a Jack Nicklaus designed championship golf course. Bignell Watkins Hasser has served as the town architect for the entire development and has planned and designed numerous components including swim and tennis recreational facilities, a proposed mixed-use town center, a Harris Teeter anchored shopping center, and a development signage program.
The Town Center consists of six residential over retail buildings. These are designed around a village green with a lakeside plaza. Fifty-two residential units and 100,000 square feet of retail are also included in the Town Center design.
The design attempts to reflect a beach-side community with turn-of-the-century style detailing executed with contemporary materials.
