Description
This unique project involved the demolition of the existing 5,000 SF facility and two private residences, and the design and construction of a new 15,000 SF, three-bay, two-story fire station.
The project also called for the design of an interim facility to house the firefighters and fire apparatus while the demolition and construction was being completed, and incorporating a “green roof” into the building design. The new facility includes three drive-thru bays, crew quarters, and office areas for Career and Volunteer Members of the Company.
Due to the tight spatial and site constraints, the building was designed to sit on an angle to allow the fire apparatus to enter the intersection from an angular position rather than requiring the apparatus to turn left or right to enter the building. In the rear of the building, a relocated access drive was designed for convenience when returning to the facility. This project was completed on time and within budget.
